A digital painting and a drawing made on a trip to Tatra mountains some years ago.
I remember as I was sitting on the hillside and drawing the scenery, someone noticed a snake nearby. It was a good spot, but was afraid to go draw there again!
Study, dry pastels on paper, 50 x 70cm. 2008?
Another work from same time, this time practicing dry pastels. I believe I used a photo from National Geographic magazine for reference.
I challenged myself to capture all the details of the jewellery. Of course now I’d approach it differently, filtering out unimportant information while keeping the essence of the subject…
Studies, acrylic on paper, 50 x 70cm. 2008?
Digging through old files, I found photos of my first attempts at using acrylics. During my first year of art studies I was striving to develop my technical skills and paint the subjects as accurately as possible.
I hesitated to post those since I practiced on reference photos, and since those were done many years ago, I can’t find those images anymore. In the end I post them as memento of my struggle to learn and improve.
Animated version of this painting.
It’s not something I planned in advance, but it fleshed out the personalities of the characters. The fox on the left is more timid, while the one on the right more mischievous!
Small gouache painting.
This style was inspired by illustrations from Polish children’s books and puppet animation I saw when I was a child, which often involved animals with human characteristics.
First time trying out vector tools in Photoshop. I don’t know why I haven’t tried it before, it’s quite fun. I want to try more complicated forms soon.
Some motion studies from reference.
I want to make more.
